Construction of two insect hotels,

a project for the Group’s Environment Week

A project born from an environmental tradition

Our Group Environment Week project took place on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. Our teams, each more motivated than the last, committed themselves to carrying out this project for biodiversity.

But let’s go back to the beginning of this idea… During our Team Building event on November 22, 2024, the Stainless France and Stainless Früchtl teams braved the cold and snow to plant 1,000 trees in the heart of the Black Forest, symbolically creating the “STAINLESS GROUP” forest.

From this event, a new tradition was born: every year, during the third week of November, Stainless Group will report on past environmental actions and launch a new environmental project to be carried out over the following year at our two sites in France and Germany.

It was in this context that, in November 2025, Martina and Victoria, two motivated young employees from the Quality and Marketing departments, launched the new Group Environment Week project: the construction, on both the French and German sites, of not one… but two insect hotels. The date was set: March 24, 2026, weather permitting. On the German side, Jens, Quality Manager at Stainless Früchtl, took charge of the project and mobilized the teams.

A collective effort to prepare the project

A form was launched to find out who wanted to volunteer for the project and who could bring materials to give them a second life. Everyone contributed wholeheartedly: most employees were motivated and willing to take part, and each person brought whatever materials they could find.

Some took advantage of a walk in the forest or weeding in their garden to collect moss, pine cones, bamboo stems, bark, grass, and branches. Others were able to get rid of DIY materials they no longer needed: tiles, bricks, planks, or wire.

We also received support from the Workshop, which provided wooden pallets as well as all the tools needed for cutting, screwing, measuring, and assembling.

A day of construction in service of biodiversity

On the day itself, the volunteer teams from Stainless France and Stainless Früchtl got to work under a beautiful sunny sky. Everyone contributed, showing creativity, enthusiasm, and thoughtfulness, as building an insect hotel is not as simple as it seems.

The structures of the hotels were built first, followed by filling and decoration. After this experience, some employees even suggested installing insect hotels at their own homes.

Through this initiative, we wanted to demonstrate our commitment to environmental responsibility while raising awareness among our employees about the importance of protecting nature. This project was also an opportunity to bring teams together around a shared, friendly outdoor activity, where everyone could contribute with their ideas, energy, and creativity.

These insect hotels now serve as lasting refuges for local wildlife and contribute to preserving biodiversity around the Group’s sites. We will provide updates throughout the year to observe their occupancy and discover their new inhabitants.

Through this type of initiative, Stainless Group demonstrates that environmental responsibility is an integral part of its corporate culture. This day, March 24, illustrates how the Group combines environmental commitment, team spirit, and local action, while continuing its activities with particular attention to its environmental impact.

We will continue this initiative by launching a new project every third week of November while reporting on actions carried out throughout the year. At our level, we aim to contribute to the protection of biodiversity. 🌍
